The National Central Library of Rome Vittorio Emanuele II, established in 1875, is one of the two Italian state libraries which collect and preserve all the Italian publications. It has about 7,000,000 printed volumes, 2,000 incunabula, 8,000 manuscripts, 10,000 prints and drawings, 20,000 maps and 1,342,154 pamphlets. The current building, inaugurated in 1975, was built between 1965 and 1975.
The motorized carts system Electric Track Vehicle helps with the activities of the library ensuring a fast and efficient connection between the different areas of the structure: books, magazines, documents and prints are handled in a fully automated way.
